I’m taking a break from the nitpick reports, as if that isn’t obvious. For fun, I was thinking about what I might do if Rainmaker turned around and asked me to continue the comic. I have lots of ideas about where the comic should go… but where do you think it should go?
Obviously, if you’ve been following since the “revival” contest, you have a pretty good idea where this might go - so don’t ruin it for the new people! However, if you know me at all, you also know that I’ve got a couple aces up my sleeve that no one knows about. What do you think those might be?
Just wing it. Let’s hear some crazy ideas.
And I’m still waiting for some Rutger Hauer pictures.

Well I’m looking forward to the trip into the web games with a nice parody of World of Warcraft as they track down the users.
Along with many more cameos from our faved denizens of Mainframe. I was kind of disappointed we didn’t see more of them in the evacuation double page spread with its infamous introduction of all too human (and many) sprites.
PS I don’t want to entertain too many negative thoughts as it’s been such a gift to even have this first volume, but if Rainmaker does pull the plug would you be kind enough to post a rough outline of where you would have taken the story?

That strongly implies that it would be an about-face for Rainmaker to want more of the comic. Since they’ve announced that they’re making the movies now, as opposed to only if the web comic -> print comic -> miniseries plan is successful enough to attract investors, that makes it seem likely that they’ve lost interest in “Code of Honour.” But then, I’d already gotten that feeling when the first issue was finished and the second had not begun production in any form.
It’s hard to predict the comic without spoilerizing it. How can we make predictions without taking into account what we already know?

I expect Rocky the Rabid Raccoon to spoil Bob and Dot’s wedding just when they’re about to kiss.
And I expect a comeback from Megabyte and Hex, though I don’t know in what form they will appear. Herr Doktor’s digits will probably get hurt.

If we try to guess, will you at least tell us if it’s something that could happen or something that would definitely not happen?
You know what would be nice? If Bob, Dot and Phong would still call Matrix “Enzo” once in a while without realising it, when Little Enzo is not around. After all, as far as I know, Matrix never ASKED them to call him Matrix. He didn’t seem to have of problem with being called “Enzo” by his closest friends at the end of season 3. They probably started to call “Matrix” only so it would be less confusing with two Enzos around. It would be nice to see that to them he is still the little boy they knew.

I, for one, really hope they let you finish the comic! Even if they are making those movies, it’s still gonna be an awfully long time until they’re completed, and we need something to fill the gap. Plus, the comic so far is made entirely of awesome, and I really want to see more.
But it looks like I really picked the right sort of time to start getting back into ReBoot as a fandom!

To be honest, I’m quite horrified with the whole set up now.
The idea of commisioning a comic with all this fuss and then to treat it like this makes me extremely dissapointed in Rainmaker.
Comics are infinitely cheaper to make then Movies, if they dont have even the money, time or effort to allow a comic to be finnished the chances for the movies have gone considerably down.
Sorry to be negative, but this is crushing for me.
I thought it was a done deal.
I thought we WERE getting a comic, but just a dozen panels as a one-off to “maybe” get the story continued.
I dont remember where this “maybe” appeared from, the Z2H campagn sure as hell seemed like it was a done deal.
Even for a test, a 1 off comic is useless, especialy if its supposed to be a test for potential movie interest. This comic was an incompletely introduction to a story, not enough to get new people, or statisfy old ones. (another cliffhanger? like that helps….)

I love what was done with the comic creatively, and really want to see where it goes.

I hope that you will be able to continue with the comic, as well as doing the movies!! I also think that Hexadecimal should return in some form, even if its not in her original format. Bob and Dot should definitely get married; I’m looking forward to that part:) Also, this is just an idea, I don’t know if this would work or not, but when the characters have to play against the User in a game, the game could be like Halo or World of Warcraft. I don’t know if this would fit in with the storyline, but its just a suggestion. Anyway, keep up the great work and support, let’s keep ReBoot alive:)

I should mention that some of this material is way out of date. Many of the story elements I mention are no longer quite accurate. For instance, it mentions that the Viruses actually help to make Gnosis. That idea was thoroughly kyboshed.

This is quite a depressing post. I’ve been following this project for quite a while, but I was so busy that I told myself I’d catch up on all the details and register just a little later. Finally last week I just sat down on a couple of days off and read then entire blog, start to finish (although not all of the comments) and the comic. While there are some things that could be improved, the work you’ve all done is fabulous - the script, the scenario, the art all fits what we’ve been hoping a revival of ReBoot would have. Now, just a few days after finally reading the comic, to read you saying “I was thinking about what I might do if Rainmaker turned around and asked me to continue the comic…” is a bit hard to understand.
Why would Rainmaker want to ruin all the work you’ve done? Obviously almost everyone here wants you to continue the comic, and I believe you’d said before that you’d spoken to Rainmaker of your hope to make 7 books to this story. So what could possess them at this point, when the popularity is returning to their story, to go against everything that Zeros2Heroes stands for and start ignoring the fans?
Are we all just missing something here - or is it really true that you might not get the chance to finish the other six parts of this story? They’ll throw us back into the same sorry situation we started in, with an uncompleted story we love Rainmaker for giving to us, but loathing them for leaving us hanging once again…

As I mention in the FAQ, the continuation of the comic has never been a certainty. That’s just the way Rainmaker set up the contest. I can tell you though - Rainmaker wouldn’t keep this blog going unless they were legitimately considering it.

Well, that and they don’t want to look like they’re cutting the ReBoot revival short. The idea was to create buzz from below, and shutting this blog down would kill it completely.
One suggestion: since fanfic seems to be almost the only lively thing on this blog as of late, how about asking specifically for fanfic based on the one issue we’ve seen? Suggest some themes (not to limit the fans, just to give them a starting place) and let people gallop off on what they think will happen/should happen/wish would happen. Don’t offer prizes; I’m tired of being offered unspecified goodies that never appear. Have them send the stories to you and post the good ones and let us discuss & debate ‘em. It might generate some energy here.

I was really interested in the side plot about Matrix, AndrAIa, and Ether in the online game. I thought there was so much you could do with that, and I was very interested in the character of Vector, so I’ll be sad if that never goes anywhere. We never even got an official picture of him, so I still don’t know what that bugger looks like
The other thing I wanted to see was that whole avatar!Enzo shiznaz, with some of that Hexadecimal-involved ladida that was discussed so very long ago on the old Java Hut forum.
I had kind of forgotten all the excitement I felt during that time, when we were all discussing the story and the characters and debating over pitches and whatnot on such a regular basis. The first thing I would do in the morning before summer school would be to check the Java Hut and Z2H for new updates. So yeah, this is kind of depressing when I look at it from that angle.

I would like to learn more about Vector too. This character could be on the good side, bad side or on his own.
What would be interesting if his character is like Jack Sparrow or Axel, characters that are complex and neither fully bad or good.
I always wanted to see that kind of character in Reboot; without being insane.

Oh yeah, just finished a Rutger Bob sketch just now. The link to the picture is in my name just in case my post gets marked as spam or something. I tried coloring it, but then someone asked why he’s purple=[
And I must say, I give the people who drew Bob’s hair a thousand kudos. Bob’s hair is just never meant to be drawn on paper. It took far more redoing just the hair than trying to get the old man’s familiarities.

Okay, putting that aside. You must include the penguin somewhere,(unless, I didn’t notice it’s already there, like, hiding in the red girl’s backpack or something).
And I think you can easily create some sort of interest for Hex among the Codemasters. After all, they seek the very essence of codes itself, and Hex’s null controlling powers(born from total randomness from an explosion) would be an invaluable asset for the codemaster’s quest.(Sine Maxwell null has Hex’s final infection codes). Which can alsot totally tie in the null recompilation project as well. (But I only mentioned this as a plot device to include a mentioning of Hex’s name, or even better: a flashback of the Queen in the comic)=]

Come on! He was my all time favorate ReBoot character (which is quite something when he’s stacked against awesome characters like Matrix, Bob, AndrAIa and Mouse) but he totally got gipped out of season 4 with only a few cameos and absolutly no lines. Thanks to whoever is responcible for letting him speak in the comic, but please, while we are talking about where the comic book should go I have to say…
